Fill/Finish at Novocol Pharma

What is Fill/Finish? After the mRNA drug substance is produced at our Laval manufacturing facility, it is transported to Novocol Pharma in Cambridge, Ontario. There, the drug substance goes through the fill/finish process, which involves:

    1. Formulation: The bulk drug product is formulated through a series of compounding and filtrations.

    2. Filling: The drug product is precisely dispensed into sterile vials or syringes.

    3. Capping & Sealing: Containers are securely sealed to ensure sterility.

    4. Visual Inspection: Each syringe or vial is inspected to ensure there are no defects or contamination.

    5. Labeling & Packaging: Doses are labeled and packaged for distribution.

    6. Cold Chain Management: Temperature-sensitive storage and handling ensures product integrity.

    Our Pipeline

In 2025, Moderna was approved to manufacture SPIKEVAX® here at the Laval facility. The site was designed with the future in mind—built to support a growing pipeline of mRNA-based respiratory vaccines, including those targeting influenza and RSV.
