April 2024: Moderna’s Enterprise Resource Planning System is Now Live!


Welcome to the April 2024 News Burst for Moderna’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Program! The News Burst series will be published every month to provide you with new program updates and any changes that may impact your ways of working with Moderna


What is the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Program?

As Moderna grows, the system platform supporting the business processes also required the ability to scale for growth. This resulted in the start of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) business transformation focusing on simplifying, standardizing, and digitizing Moderna’s core business processes to achieve growth objectives. Internally, we call this ERP project “Program Odyssey.”


Now Live: Moderna’s Enterprise Resource Planning System
 

We are happy to announce that Moderna’s ERP system is now live as of April 1 (EST). The temporary changes mentioned in the February News Burst are now ramping up towards normal business operations.


What business operations have resumed?
 

  • Purchase Orders: All purchase order activities have resumed. 

  • Invoice Processing: During the system downtime we continued to accept invoices. As of April 1, invoice postings have resumed. 

  • Shipments: Shipping has resumed to and from CMOs and distribution partners. This also includes receipts from vendors at our manufacturing facilities. 

  • Sales Orders: Moderna Customer Service has resumed receiving and processing Sales Orders. 

  • Payments: Invoices have resumed for processing and approval. 

  • Planning: The new Moderna Planning Tool (MPT) is live and enables planners to create the demand and supply plans for operational and tactical horizon. 

  • Production: Internal and external manufacturing operations have resumed. 

  • External Manufacturing: All Contract Manufacturing Operations (CMO’s) - (i.e. Clinical, Critical Raw Materials, Commercial, etc.) are now operating under the New Subcontract Purchase Order Model. 

We thank you for your patience and understanding during our system downtime to deploy the new ERP system as it will improve our overall ways of working with you and various stakeholders.
