Navigating Growth, Embracing Discomfort: Jagjit’s Story at Moderna
In a career built on translating science into patient impact, Jagjit Ludu found something different at Moderna: the space to innovate beyond the traditional boundaries of Medical Affairs. From education tools to storytelling, he’s reshaping how people engage with science—without losing sight of why it matters.
With a background in genetics, business and more than a decade of experience in Medical Affairs, Jagjit brought deep scientific expertise to Moderna. But what he found was something more—a place where bold ideas are welcomed and expected.
Creativity That Moves the Needle
As Associate Director, Medical Advisor (Canada), Jagjit translates complex data into meaningful, actionable insights for healthcare providers. Although the science is rigorous, the way it’s shared can be creative. In Canada, he and his team developed an educational docu-series that blends real clinicians with storytelling elements—designed to both inform and engage.
“We wanted to try something new,” he says. “There are tens of thousands of primary care providers across the country. This was a way to reach them at scale, in a way that felt human.” The series has steadily gained traction, and the team has heard from clinicians who found the format helpful and accessible.
More recently, Jagjit launched an internal text-based platform that merges artificial intelligence and SMS technology to share bite-sized insights with colleagues. It covers everything from scientific updates to wellness tips, offering a quick moment of reflection or learning. “It’s another way to connect,” he says. “People want relevant, timely information—and they want it to feel personal.”
Navigating Growth, Embracing Discomfort
Launching something new isn’t easy, even in an innovative company. When Jagjit first proposed the idea for the video series, it challenged conventional approaches. But he kept at it—refining the concept, sharing his vision and building trust along the way. “I just kept going,” he says. “Over time, people started to see what I saw, and we got there.”
It’s a theme that runs through Jagjit’s time at Moderna: embracing the discomfort that comes with trying something different and helping others see the potential in an untested idea.
That mindset was critical during his first year at the company. “It was intense—one of the hardest years of my professional life,” he says. “Everything felt different. Coming from a large pharmaceutical company into this fast-paced, evolving space—it was like jumping into a start-up.”
But over time, things clicked. “And once it clicks, it gets fun,” he adds. “You start to find your rhythm.”
Jagjit is honest about the challenges of working in a high-growth, high-expectation environment. He’s also seen the culture shift. “We’re growing up,” he says. “I’ve seen real progress in how we collaborate, support one another and build connections across teams.”
What makes a difference, he says, is the shared commitment to the mission—and the people behind it. “Sometimes, one strong connection is enough to ground you and help you thrive. And over time, those connections grow.”
When asked what being a changemaker means to him, he reflected that “you have to be willing to hear ‘no’ and keep going. You have to believe in what you’re building, even before others do.”
That belief is what brought him to Moderna—and what continues to drive him today. Whether he’s finding new ways to share science, building tools that connect people or helping shift how teams work together, Jagjit is proof that meaningful impact often starts with a creative idea and the persistence to see it through.
