The second key vaccine component manufactured here are lipid nanoparticles (LNPs).

A LNP is a tiny bubble of fat which acts as a drug delivery mechanism. It encapsulates the mRNA, to stabilise and protect it from degradation during transport to the target site in the body3 .

It takes 3 days to produce a batch of LNPs from start to finish, with 1 batch being able to produce up to 3 million doses.
